James DeVleming, OD
Dr. DeVleming was born and raised in Pullman Washington. He did his undergraduate schooling at the University of Washington and received his Doctorate of Optometry degree from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon in 1990. He and his wife Cathy then moved their young family back to Pullman to purchase his father’s Optometry practice in 1991.
Dr. DeVleming is a member of the American Optometric Association and is a current AOA Trustee. He is a past President of the Optometric Physicians of Washington and continues to be a member of the legislative committee for OPW. He is active in his community through the Pullman Chamber of Commerce and is the Vision Director for the Washington State University Athletic Department Medical Board.
He and his wife Cathy have three grown children, Kristin, Jake and Sarah and one overly lovable black lab at home named Gryffindor.
Jenna DeWald, OD
Dr. Jenna DeWald received her Bachelor of Science in Physics from Washington State University and then attended The Ohio State University College of Optometry where she received her Doctorate of Optometry, graduating with honors. Dr. DeWald completed clinical rotations at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio and at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. She practiced optometry for a year in Hamilton, Ohio before moving back to Washington to be closer to family.
Jenna enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband camping, fishing, and hiking around the beautiful Northwest.

Jake is a proud graduate of Washington State University. After working in the hospitality industry in Oregon, he was lured back to his hometown. Now he does all the patient pre-testing, assists the doctors during the exams and helps patients with optical ordering. He is working on his Paraoptometric certification. He is looking forward to working with you here at Pullman Vision Source. Go Cougs!
Sarah is a Pullman native who has returned to her hometown after several years away. She is a Paraoptometric and assists the doctors in providing the highest level of vision care to patients. In her free time, Sarah enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and her two rescue puppies, Eleven and Nigel.
Sarah B. graduated from Whitworth University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Health Science. She moved down to Pullman after graduation where her husband, Kevin, is studying to become a veterinarian at WSU. She is the friendly face you will see as you walk through our door, ready to check you into your appointment and answer any of your questions. She has a passion for healthy living, enjoying the great outdoors and painting. She loves life with her husband and two kitties, Leo and Lennon.
LaSharr grew up between the small town of Rochester and big city of Tacoma. She moved out to Pullman to attend Washington State University and decided she liked the middle ground of a slightly bigger town with a small-town feel and decided to stay in Pullman. She spends her free time either going back home to visit her family or hanging out with her two amazing cats Jasmine and Raja. If she’s not doing one of those two things you can normally find her reading or watching Disney movies or football. Her favorite place in the world is the ocean no matter the temperature of the water she will go right in. LaSharr works directly patients doing pre-testing and assists the doctors during exams. As our newest optical associate, LaSharr is quickly becoming an expert in frames, lenses, and patient satisfaction.
Maia is an Eastern Washington University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies in Public Relations and minor in Journalism. She relocated to Pullman to be closer to her family in Colfax, where she and her seven siblings grew up. Maia enjoys journaling, writing in her blog, singing, and improving her photography skills. Maia works directly with patients providing quality patient care. Her calm and soothing presence makes patients feel at ease.
Cathy is the Practice Care Coordinator working directly with patients and assisting the doctors as a Paraoptometric. She is well versed in insurance issues and also takes care of all the behind the scenes details.
